RUHS Guy Ghosts
Hope to Open Sat. By David Maxfield The Randolph boy’s baseball team started their season, like most other spring sports, indoors with more than two feet of snow on the ground. As the snow slowly dissolves the team looks forward to the beginning of the season. After losing four players last year to graduation, the team returns three seniors from the previous year. Kyle Connolly, Thomas Jacobs and David Maxfield will help to guide the team under Coaches Mike Czok and John O’Donnell who bring many years of coaching, playing and baseball knowledge. Also returning to the team this year are juniors Jon White, Dustin Brassard and Justin Messier. Getting experience at the end of last year, juniors Damon Dyer, Nik Bent and Jason Hicks join the team with knowledge and experience to the game that "Papa Czok teaches, so well.". New to the team this year is senior Josh Ferris, who returns to the team after a two-year hiatus, juniors John Conant and Justin Tilton. Sophomore Tyler LaFreniere and freshman Sam Dyer also join the team with plenty of baseball experience. With only four seniors and the remainder underclassman, the team still has plenty of experience. With all of the players it is hard for coaches Czok and O’Donnell to place one player in a designated spot. But with all of the talent the team has a deep pitching rotation bringing Connolly, Maxfield, Bent, Conant, Hicks, Messier, White, LaFreniere and S. Dyer to the mound. The team has been grateful to have the chance to get outside and scrimmage. With their field still partially covered with snow they did travel to Mill River, Mt. Abe., and to Burr and Burton for scrimmages. With pre-season in full swing, Coach Czok has players in places they have never seen in their years of ball. The boys look forward to their first game of the year being played this Saturday at 11 a.m. against Lamoille and relocated at a Rec. Field in Cambridge because of the late winter many fields are still covered in snow. ____________ |
