RUHS Senior Gals Bring Experience

The Randolph varsity softball team had its first outdoor practice on Tuesday, which means it’s time for another exciting season. There are many returning players to this year’s team as well as some new faces.

Returning as head coach is Alan Stewart. Returning as seniors are Ashley Chase, who will be playing behind the plate, Amanda Gerstenmaier, playing first base and also pitching, Andrea Chase, working on the left side of the infield and in the outfield, Gwen Reis, anchoring the outfield and Amanda Angell playing at the pitcher’s position and the outfield.

Arielle Connolly is working the shortstop as well as pitching as a returning sophomore, and Katie Jickling is working at second base. Heather Mugford is playing behind the plate as well as in the outfield as another returning sophomore.

Some new faces to the team have also been learning the ropes. New as a junior is Courtney Smedy, who is working behind the plate and also in the outfield. Hannah Becker is also a new junior who is working both in the outfield and at second base. Another new player is sophomore Shayne Reis, working at first base and in the outfield. Also new to the team is freshman Molly Poirier, who is working at the left side of the infield.

Returning as loyal manager to the team is Miriam Abu-Shurijah. Also returning is Emily Beaudin, who, due to an injury, is unable to play, but is returning to her place on the team.

The Ghosts have played three scrimmages this year. They traveled to Mill River, Mount Abraham, and Burr and Burton. The Ghosts came out victorious in all three of these scrimmages. The team has an explosive offense and solid defense, but there are still many things to work on. The team has great chemistry this year and is very excited about the upcoming season. It’s unknown at this time when the season will actually begin, due to the uncooperative weather, but the entire team would love your support.
