By Sarah Kresock

The RUHS Girls lacrosse team started off their season with a slow start, resulting in a loss to Hartford, 11-7.

The first half of the game went relatively well, with goals from Erika Smith (1), Brook Sargeant, (1), Sarah Kresock (1), and Abby Peltier had one goal and two assists. The half ended with the girls not trailing too far behind with a score of 8-6.

The Gal Ghosts couldn’t catch up to the Hartford Hurricanes in the second half of the game, even with three extra goals from Peltier. The game ended with a score of 11-7. and a total of 11 saves from goalie, Erica Weber.

There is a lot of hope in store for this team, with five returning seniors, 11 juniors, three sophomores, the addition of four outstanding freshmen, and two brand new players, exchange students from Germany and Switzerland.

"They’re a strong team, with a lot of potential," Coach Sheilagh Smith states. "I think we’ll have a good year."

The girls played in St. Johnsbury yesterday, and will be playing the Chelsea Red Devils on Friday. Come watch the home opener against Montpelier on Monday, April 28!
