Holy Cross Owners Asked To Remove
In-Ground Plantings

All lot owners at Holy Cross Cemetery, off Pleasant St. in Randolph, were asked to remove all in-ground plantings, including trees, shrubs, perennial flowers and plants from their family lot by May 2.

Father John Milanese, pastor of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, said the reason behind this request was an effort to have folks adhere to the regulations that have always been in place at the cemetery, which is mowed by the town.

"The rules have been ignored by many people for quite some time," Father John said. "Often, people have planted something on a lot and there is no one to care for the planting, which can become a nuisance or problem. Also, what’s beautiful is in the eye of the beholder. In order to keep it maintained properly, you have to have regulations and that makes the cemetery that much nicer. We’re just trying to go back to making sure that people adhere to the rules."
