Lady Ghosts Lax
Team Takes Two
By Sarah Kresock

The Gal Ghosts have had two successful games in the past week against U-32 and Oxbow, and improved their record to 3-2.

Win over U-32

The girls lax team traveled to U-32 last Saturday on a very cold, wet afternoon, only to come out on top over the Raiders. The Raiders started off strong with an immediate lead over the Ghosts, 2-0. But Randolph quickly stepped up their game and Erika Smith put one in the back of the net with an assist from Sarah Kresock. U-32 answered with an extra two goals, raising the score to 4-1. However, the Ghosts returned the favor by scoring three additional goals from Kresock, Smith, and freshman Amanda Bowen. At the end of the half, the game was all tied up at 4-4.

Things got a bit more heated up in the second half with a fiery performance from Bowen, who had a total of five goals by the end of the game. Bowen quickly started the scoring streak of the second half with a quick stick into the back of the net from teammate Abby Peltier, who was working the offence from behind the goal. Bowen scored yet another only to have U-32 sneak past Randolph’s tightly held defense, taking the score to 6-5.

Bowen had her fourth goal of the game immediately after, with Kresock following quickly behind with a free-position goal. U-32 answered taking the score to 8-6. Peltier then snuck by U-32’s defense from behind the net with a crease roll. U-32 scored two extra, but Bowen didn’t approve, scoring the 10th and final goal of the game, giving Randolph the win, 10-8. Goalie Erica Weber had 14 saves.

Win over Oxbow

The following Monday, Randolph took on Oxbow Union, and netted the win, 12-5. The girls really picked up their pace in the Oxbow game, with great midfield connections from Emiline Peltier, and many interceptions from Erika Smith, Hannah Scott, Bridget Harty, and Aranzazu Weckstern. Oxbow only got away with five goals this game, and a total of 10 saves from Weber. Randolph goals were scored by: Megan Reymore (1), Smith (2), Kresock (2) (4 assists), Peltier (3) (1 assist), and Bowen (4).

The girls travel to Rice on Thursday, and take on the Montpelier Solons on Saturday.
