NORTHFIELD — Irene L. Cady, 97, formerly of Randolph, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Mayo HealthCare in Northfield, where she had lived for the past five and a half years. She was born November 17, 1910 in Brookfield, the daughter of Arthur C. and Bertha G. (Holmes) Lamson. She attended Brookfield schools and graduated from Williamstown High School in 1928. She received her teacher’s training from Montpelier Seminary and was a teacher in the Williamstown and Brookfield schools. She married Leon G. Cady June 15, 1934 in Riverton. The Cadys operated a dairy farm on West Street in Brookfield from 1934 until they moved to Elm St. in Randolph in 1972. She will be remembered for her love of her family, her cooking and her hard work. She appreciated flowers and enjoyed gardening. She loved to travel, including driving to the World’s Fair in Chicago with some of her siblings in 1933 and flying to Florida with her daughters on her 90th birthday. Survivors include four daughters: Janet Bevins and husband, Edwin, of Wells, Maine, Marilyn Kerin of South Barre, Rita Benosky and husband, James of Burlington, and Linda Ballou of Concord, Penna.; two sisters: Ruth Lane of Vermont and Carol Rousseau of California; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 1995, three brothers, and four sisters. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 11, at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. Pastor Thomas Harty officiated and Phyllis Hawley was the organist. Phillip Kerin III, Paula Tremblay, Jason Ballou, Patrick Kerin, Tanya Benosky and Jonathon Bevins all shared poems, prayers and remembrances. The pall bearers were grandsons Jason Ballou, Steven Benosky, Jonathon Bevins, Lee Bevins, Patrick Bevins and Phillip Kerin. Burial was in the Brookfield Center Cemetery.
