Charlotte Daniel

RANDOLPH CENTER—Charlotte Tippin Daniel, 52, died at the Garden Room at Gifford Medical Center Sunday, May 4, 2008.

She was born the daughter of the late Captain Ennis E. and Julia Lawsing Daniel October 1, 1955, in Randolph.

As a very young child, she and her family left Randolph Center and moved to Panama, where she lived until her father’s retirement as a canal pilot in 1986. She was raised on the Atlantic side of the Canal Zone in Coco Solo, where she attended a special needs school in her early years.

While living in the CZ, she developed a love for swimming and spent many enjoyable times with her family and friends on Tiger Island in Gatun Lake and at her parents’ beach house on the Atlantic coast.

Every two years, she would return to the states with her parents for an extended vacation at her mother’s family home in Randolph Center. Through the years, she became a well-seasoned traveler, as she accompanied her parents on many trips from Panama to New Orleans, to Maryland, as well as road trips throughout Vermont and New England. She found great enjoyment in being her parents’ companion, whether it be traveling, attending social events, walking around town or sitting on the porch, simply watching the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

One of her greatest loves in life was her extensive collection of jewelry, which she wore proudly and willingly displayed to anyone she came in contact with.

She led a rich life that was not measured by the achievements perceived to be the benchmark of society, but by the friends she amassed. Even though she was non-verbal, she had a knack of conveying her thoughts, needs, and wishes, as all who knew her can attest.

Charlotte is survived by her brother, George E. Daniel and his companion, Jackie Hackett of Randolph Center and a sister, Emilie Daniel of Randolph. She also leaves her uncle and aunt, Joe and Cathy Lawsing of Windsor Locks, Conn., as well as several cousins.

A committal service was held on May 10 at the Randolph Center Cemetery, with Pastor Tom Harty officiating.
