First Light Studios of Randolph is opening its doors with a special holiday exhibit this Friday from 3-7 p.m., Dec. 1.

"I'm pleased to have works for this show from many area artists, some established and a few exceptional newcomers," said gallery owner Bob Eddy on Tuesday this week.

Brothers David and Marc Barreda of East Randolph, each gifted artists in different fields, will be represented. David, a photographer whose work is known to Herald readers, will have several prints from his travels in Peru with his father and brothers. Marc, a sculptor in various media, plans to show some work in metal, but also glass projects he is currently creating as assistant to Tunbridge's Robin Mix.

Local friends of Star Island, a small island retreat in the Isle of Shoals, will be pleased to hear that Meg Schoene, summer resident there, is back again this year with pastels, watercolors and reduction block prints. Also, RUHS graduate Shawn Phillips, a member of the Star Pelican Community, will be represented by three photographic triptychs.

Another newcomer to the area art scene, Erica Partington, is hanging some of her abstracts in the show. Isaac Eddy, too, will be represented with several studio pieces.

Rounding out the artists represented are Jim Sardonis, Paul Calter and Bob Eddy. Sardonis, busy this weekend bringing his newest work to the New England Aquarium for unveiling on Saturday, will be included at First Light with several smaller works as well as his jewelry. Paul Calter is painting two three-painting series for the show. Bob Eddy will be represented by Vermont and Star Island landscapes in oil, and watercolor still lifes.

The First Light doors will open at 4 p.m. on Friday above Chittenden Bank on Pleasant Street in Randolph for what promises to be a wonderful holiday show with splendid offerings for gift giving. Can't make it between 4 and 7 on Friday? First Light will also be open from 11-1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays from now until Christmas.
