Undefeated Week For Randolph Girls Lacrosse Undefeated Week For Randolph Girls Lacrosse The RUHS girls’ lacrosse team traveled to Green Mountain Valley to open their season last Wednesday and came away with 10-7 win over GMV. Anna Ialeggio started off scoring two goals to take the lead for the Ghosts. RUHS continued their offensive attack with a goal from Caitlin Jacobs. Green Mountain Valley’s offense retaliated and tallied one goal to lessen the Ghost lead, but Madeline Sharrow answered with two goals for the Ghosts to bring the score to 5-1. GMV tallied two more goals to decrease Randolph’s lead. Ialeggio scored her second goal of the game to bring the Ghosts up by three. Ashley Moore scored the Ghosts final goal of the first half to increase the lead to four. The Ghosts were looking to tally more goals and hold GMV, and Jacobs added to the Ghosts’ lead with a goal to start the second half. GMV retaliated, however, and with about eight minutes of play left GMV scored to narrow the Ghosts lead to only one goal. With the score at 8-7, the Ghosts Payson Warlick scored and Sharrow netted her third goal of the game to give Randolph a three goal win over Green Mountain Valley. Jacobs and Ialeggio each had two assists for the Ghosts, while Katie McLaughlin, Matilda Urie, and Meghan Viens each had one. Erin Kenealy had 11 saves for the Ghosts. Win Over Mt. Mansfield The Ghosts added another to their record last Thursday with a 12-0 victory over Mt. Mansfield. The Ghosts took an early lead with a goal from Jacobs. Mt. Mansfield tried to retaliate but they were unable to get past the RUHS defense. The Ghosts continued their assault on MMU, netting six more goals in the first half. Anna Ialeggio, Madeline Sharrow, and Erin Fullam all scored one for the Ghosts. Jacobs tallied three more goals to give Randolph a 7-0 lead at half time. MMU came out of the half looking to decrease the Ghosts’ lead. Emily Urie gave RUHS a strong second half start. MMU was unable to find the back of the net, and the Ghosts continued their attack. Ialeggio scored her second goal of the game while Jacobs netted two more to increase the Ghosts lead. Danielle Dow added two goals to secure the Ghosts 12-0 win. Meghan Viens, Dow, and Ialeggio each had an assist for the Ghosts. Erin Kenealy had 12 saves and a shut out for the Ghosts. 8-2 Win Over BFA The 2-0 Ghosts traveled to BFA St. Albans on Saturday where they added an 8-2 win to their record. Jacobs gave the Ghosts an early 1-0 lead over BFA. Ashley Moore increased the Ghosts lead with a goal off an assist from Viens. BFA netted a goal of their own to try to stop the Ghosts’ momentum, but Jacobs and Moore tallied their second goals of the game to widen Randolph’s lead. Viens netted a goal off an assist from Anna Ialeggio to aid in the offensive attack. BFA posted one more goal before the end of he first half. BFA came out of the half looking to decrease the Ghosts lead but couldn’t produce on offense and the Ghosts continue to attack. Dow netted a goal to give the Ghosts a 6-2 lead. BFA tried to retaliate but they were unsuccessful and Jacobs scored her third goal of the game and added to the Ghosts lead. Matilda Urie tallied the last Ghost goal of the game to bring their lead to six over BFA. Erin Keneally had 10 saves for the Ghosts. 4th Win For RUHS The Ghosts (3-0) hosted Division I Montpelier Monday and looked to give the Solons their first loss of the season. The Ghosts beat the Solons 6-4. RUHS dominated the play for much of the first half, and Ashley Moore netted a goal to give the Ghosts the 1-0 lead. Anna Ialeggio scored the second goal for the Ghosts and Caitlin Jacobs netted the third. Montpelier tallied two goals of their own in the first half and the Ghosts had only a one goal lead coming out of the half. Randolph continued to attack the Montpelier defense and Ialeggio netted two more goals to give Randolph a 5-3 lead over the Solons. The Solons offense continued to shoot on goal but they were unable to battle back. Jacobs scored the Ghosts’ final goal and RUHS looked to hold the Solons. Montpelier came back and scored two goals, but it wasn’t enough to derail the Ghosts. Danielle Dow, Meghan Viens, Ialeggio, and Jacobs all had one assist for the Ghosts. Erin Kenealy had 19 saves for the Ghosts. The Ghosts traveled to Lamoille yesterday and will host St. Johnsbury on Saturday at 4 p.m. ____________ |
