South Woodstock— Eleanor Catherine Walker, 81, died August 12, 2001 at her home in White River Jct.

She was born March 13, 1920 in Brooklyn, N.Y. daughter of Julius Joseph Gramling and Elizabeth Ann (Kruse) Gramling.

She was educated at the Fletcher Hill School in South Woodstock.

She married William Anderson Walker Oct. 13, 1940. He pre-deceased her on Jan. 16, 1991.

Aside from raising her own family, Eleanor did housework and was a nanny for other families in the South Woodstock area. She was a member and president of the South Woodstock Home-makers, and a member of the Long Hill Snowmobile Club.

She is survived by seven children; Mark Andrew Walker of Hartland, Kevin Allen Walker of Newbury, N.H., Gloria Ann Howard of Randolph, Nancy Ellen Cross of Sunapee, N.H., Barbara Lea Currier of Newport, N.H., Susan Jean Burnham of White River Jct., Trella Lynette Legacy of Newport, N.H., 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Veronica Morgan of Woodstock, and Bernadette Osmer of Windsor; seven brothers: Edward H. of Strafford, Lawrence J. of Hartland, Gerard F. of Woodstock, Eugene J. of Ariton, Ala., Thomas J. of Perkinsville, Richard A. of Baxlui, Ga., Paul C. of Anacoco, La.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service was held Aug. 15 at the South Woodstock Community Church with Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Burial was in the Kendall-Ransom Cemetery in South Woodstock and was followed by a reception at the South Woodstock Fire Station.

Friends may make donations to the South Woodstock Fire Dept., 3508 Fletcher Hill Rd., South Woodstock, Vt. 05071.

Arrangements were under the direction of The Cabot Funeral Home, One Rose Hill, Woodstock, Vt. 05091.
