Dr. Josh Plavin is New Doctor At Chelsea Health Center

The beginning of November brought a new doctor to town in Chelsea. Dr. Joshua Plavin met his first patients at the Chelsea Family Health Center just in time for the cold and flu season of yet another winter. His appointment by the Gifford Medical Center comes as a well-received addition to the health needs of the Chelsea community and its surrounding towns.

A resident of Randolph since Aug. 2000, Dr. Plavin received his medical training at the University of Michigan. While completing a fellowship in public health research at Dartmouth earlier this year, he found himself interested in primary care. He had established a relationship with Gifford while "moonlighting" in the emergency room, so when the Chelsea office needed a more full-time primary care physician, there was a natural fit.

"Gifford is making a huge investment in this community by putting me out here," acknowledged Plavin. He looks forward to forming a strong partnership with Starr Strong, the long time Physician’s Assistant in Chelsea.

Certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics, Plavin welcomes the opportunity to serve community members of all ages. He said he already enjoys the "homey, family-oriented atmosphere," he finds at the Health Center and looks forward to forming personal relationships with his patients. While he may make his home in Randolph with his wife, Jennifer Curtin, and their three month-old son, Oliver, he wants his patients over the mountain to feel a serious long-term commitment from him.

Plavin also serves as an adjunct Clinical Professor at Dartmouth, as well as on the Randolph Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors, and is a leader of the Randolph Youth Opportunity Group, which publishes pamphlets and brochures to help make kids aware of after-school and weekend options.

The people of Chelsea will have the opportunity to welcome Dr. Plavin personally at an Open House planned for Friday, Nov. 16 from 4:30–7:30 p.m. at the home of Dr. Brewster Martin in Chelsea.
