Million Dollar Bridge To Live In Luxury in Town Garage Million Dollar Bridge To Live In Luxury in Town Garage East Randolph's tiny but historic Braley Covered Bridge will spend two years in the Randolph Town Garage, the selectboard was told Tuesday night. The federally-funded million-dollar repair of the bridge, which serves just four homes, will get underway this summer, Public Works Supt. Joe Voci told the board. After a temporary bridge is put in, the existing bridge will be taken apart, piece by piece, and transported to the Randolph Center garage, where various pieces will be repaired or replaced. Then, eventually, the bridge will be reassembled in its current location, probably in 2008, he said. The bridge, for which the Town had planned repairs of about $50,000, will get the royal treatment thanks to special covered bridge repair funds made available by U. S. Sen. James M. Jeffords. Before the bridge is moved to the garage, however, Voci said the Randolph Center Fire Department has got to come and pick up their old, recently replaced, fire truck. He hopes they do that by May 1. A problem with the truck, Voci noted, is that it starts OK but can't be turned off, except by stalling it out. |
