Sharon Academy Boys Over Chelsea Red Devils By One Sharon Academy Boys Over Chelsea Red Devils By One By Mary Childs On September 22 the Chelsea boys traveled to Cabot to shut out the Huskies and come away with a 4-0 win. Nate Dowlin opened the scoring in the first half breaking through the Cabot defense. Chelsea continued to possess the ball and it wasn’t long before Zeb Allen crashed the net off a cross from Dowlin and put the ball into the goal to give Chelsea a 2-0 lead into halftime. In the second half, Chelsea continued with tough defense keeping the ball on the offensive end. Shortly into the second half Andrew Richardson took a shot and after the ball bounced off the goalie, Joe Bonasarah put the ball away giving the Chelsea Devils a 3-0 lead. The game continued in Chelsea’s favor and with less than a minute left Sean McCarthy tallied another goal for the Chelsea boys giving them a 4-0 lead. Galen Milchman had an excellent game in the goal for the Devils as he had his first shutout of the season. Loss to Sharon Academy The Chelsea boys lost a close game to the Sharon Academy 3-2 on Tuesday. Chelsea came out strong when Zeb Allen sent the ball into the goal. Sharon responded and capitalized on a penalty kick when a handball was called inside the box. The ball went to the net as Galen Milchman attempted the save. Milchman, the Chelsea goalie, was substituted out of the game due to an injury as Sean McCarthy was put in the net and continued to play one of the toughest positions of soccer. Tough defense kept the score to a 1-1 tie going into the half. In the second half both teams continued to play a competitive game of soccer. With the ball on Sharon’s offensive end the ball ricocheted off a defensive player and slipped to the back of the goal giving Sharon a 2-1 lead. Chelsea’s offense soon responded and Pablo Leon took a shot on the goal slipping it past the goalie’s hands. With time ticking both teams stepped it up and continued to play an aggressive game. Despite Chelsea’s effort the Sharon Academy came out with a 3-2 win after a Sharon player scored another goal. The Chelsea boys record falls to 2-5. ____________ |
