Robinson Named DAR Good citizen The Colonel Israel Converse Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has announced that Maya Robinson, a senior at Whitcomb High School has been selected as this year's DAR Good Citizen by her teachers and classmates. "Maya exemplifies the qualities which the DAR looks for in each Good Citizen of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism," said chapter member Nancy Gray. Robinson is the daughter of Jim Robinson and Rebecca Carleton of Bethel. She has been an active member of the Whitcomb community and this year held the positions of student council president and senior class president as well as secretary of the National Honor Society. Robinson also was a founding member of "The Change the World Kids," a non-profit community service group based in Woodstock, whose mission is to serve their communities both locally and globally. Along with community service, Robinson has played three years of varsity soccer and participated in Whitcomb drama, among other activities. Her junior year was spent as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student in Amravati, India. She will be attending Duke University in North Carolina this fall. |
