Donald Lacaillade

BETHEL- Donald F. Lacaillade, 82, formerly of Randolph, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at his niece's home in Bethel, where he had lived for the past six years.

He was born February 17, 1925 in East Montpelier, the son of Fred and Sadie (Brown) Lacaillade.

He was raised in Brookfield and attended schools there. In earlier years, he worked as a farmer in Brookfield.

He married Margaret King July 23, 1946 in Randolph. They lived in Randolph from 1946 until he moved to Bethel in 2001.

From 1960-70, he owned and operated F. H. Lacaillade & Sons Lumber Co. in Randolph, with his father. From 1970, until retiring in 1987 he worked as a tool setter at Waterbury Plastics in Randolph.

He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. He also enjoyed listening to old-time fiddle music and watching NASCAR and had owned a race car in the 1960s.

Survivors include a son, Richard Lacaillade and his wife Priscilla of Randolph; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Lacaillade; two brothers, Harley and Ray Lacaillade; and two sisters, Ruth Brown and Florence Mack.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday, July 18 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bethel. Burial followed in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Randolph. Calling hours were held Tuesday evening at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Randolph Area Little League, PO Box 372, Randolph, Vt. 05060.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Day Funeral Home of Randolph.
