Earl W. Goodell

LAVERNIA, TEXAS- Earl W. (Dick) Goodell, 82, died June 30, 2007. He was born August 10, 1924 in Hartland, the son of Denzil and Mildred (Hadley) Rice.

He is survived by two daughters: Mary Lunt of Manchester, Conn., and Brenda Mizzell and her husband Richard of Bardstown, Ky.; a brother, Roger Rice of Woodstock; a sister Joan Richardson of Barre; nine grandchildren: Jeffrey Johnson, Michelle Sanger, Michael Sanger, Rebekah Yeaw, Deborah Kniffin, Peter Kniffin, John Kniffin, Cheryl Kniffin, and Brian Ruffino; and many great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Arlene; a daugher, Marjorie Kniffin; a son, Richard Earl Goodell; three brothers: David of East Randolph, Benjamin and Gordon Rice, both of Randolph; and a sister Jacklyn Holmes, of Randolph.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army as a driver for General George Patten. Prior to that, he graduated from Hartland High School. After he retired from RR Donnelly's, he managed Lafayette Green in Clinton, Conn. and Ambleside Associates in Westbrook, Conn.

Visiting hours were held at the Swan Funeral Home in Clinton, Conn., Friday, July 6. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 7 at the funeral home.

Burial with military honors immediately followed the service at Beaverbrook Cemetery.
