The Royals baseball team traveled to Rochester and Chelsea last week and earned wins in both locations. With the two wins, the Royals improved to 5-1 on the year.

Tyler Manning got the start for the Royals against Rochester. Manning pitched a great game giving up only two hits, with nine strike-outs, and earning a complete game win. Miles Ellis helped Manning out by having two hits, two stolen bases and three runs scored.

Win at Chelsea

The Royals traveled to Chelsea last Friday to take on the Red Devils. On a cold and misty afternoon, the Royals left Chelsea with a well-earned win. Royals Devin Cilley, Ellis and Tyrell Manning drew walks to load the bases for Dustin Parker. Parker made it hurt with a double down the left field line that drove in Cilley and Ellis. With a 2-0 edge in top of the first inning, Parker got the start for the Royals on the mound. After two ground outs and a K, Parker gave up a hit to right center field that scored a run. It would be the only run Parker gave up all game. After one inning, the Royals held a slim lead of 2-1.

The Royals scored 10 runs in the second inning. Cody Welch started the inning off by getting hit in the foot. Tyler Manning got on with a hit to left field, Cilley singled to center field, and Ellis hit a two-run home run to left center field, over the fence, for the first of two in the game. Tyrell Manning kept the inning going with a double down the right field line, Zach Colburn singled and Tyler Manning hit a two-run home run to left field that just cleared the fence. Parker struck out the side in the bottom of the second. Ellis started off the third inning with another home run that cleared the fence easily. Parker had another easy inning in the third.

The Royals dusted off the bats again in the top of the fifth. Tyrell Manning hit a single to left field. Parker reached on a fielder's choice that drove in Ellis, who had a walk. Jack Howe walked to load the bases for Welch, who singled to right field, driving in two runs. The Royals got four runs in the fifth to make it a 16-1 lead.

Tyrell Manning came on in relief in the fifth to close the door with three strikeouts.

The Royals travel to Rivendell on Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m.
