Sharon Lacrosse Seniors Win 1, Lose 1 Last Week

In a Saturday match at the Sharon campus, the TSA varsity girls came out on top in a tightly fought victory over a talented Lamoille team.

Seniors Hannah McMeekin, Bekah Woodin, and Laurel Adams scored four goals each. Senior Hanna Coxon added an additional goal in a contest, which was close throughout both halves, but saw TSA emerge victorious by a score of 13-12.

The weather conditions were cold, but the action on the field was hot. With Sharon down by a goal with four minutes left to play, it was McMeekin who came through with the tying goal. Three minutes later, McMeekin scored the goal, which secured the victory.

Junior Heather Skehan also contributed to the win with 12 saves in goal.

Chelsea Tops TSA

The perfect record of 3-0 accumulated by the Lady Phoenix lacrosse team was broken on Tuesday as The Sharon Academy lost to Chelsea, last year's state runners-up, 14-2.

Leading the effort for Chelsea was Kim Upham, who powered in five goals. Her sister Michelle was second high scorer with three in the net. Grace Amber, Whitney Ladd, Althea Spencer, Jasmine Brennan, and Samantha Bonasera each added a goal, proof positive that Chelsea possesses an offensive arsenal of talent. Goalie Morgan Tullar was credited with 12 saves in Chelsea's winning effort.

For the Lady Phoenix, both McMeekin and Woodin scored a goal. Coach Ned Battey credited his girls for a very solid first half and noted some significant improvements in defensive intensity.

Sharon moves on to play Oxbow in Bradford on Thursday.
