TSA Lady Phoenix By Laurie-Jean B. Gauthier

Gordon Barnaby returns for his seventh varsity coaching season at the helm of The Sharon Academy’s Lady Phoenix. With the loss to graduation of leading scorer and rebounder Erin Kinnarney, twins Eliza and Emily Chadwick, and Robin Spencer, the Phoenix are short one for the starting line-up, returning just four players with varsity experience.

The returning seniors are Annie McRay, Heather Skehan, Lane Rossi and junior Taylor Faccio. New to the squad are junior Christine Elderd, and sophomores Ella Hayslett and Taylor Hull. Coach Barnaby feels that speed is the team’s strongest asset, while shooting will be a challenge but the girls have the potential to be good.

The Sharon Academy Lady Phoenix opened their basketball season with a road game last Saturday, Dec. 5, in Concord, where they played the Wildcats. Unfortunately for Sharon, Concord’s team duo of sisters Kristina and ‘Becca Young were unstoppable, combining for 32 of the Wildcats’ game-winning 44 points.

Phoenix Annie McRay scored the lion’s share of the Phoenix points with 11.
