Global Campuses Foundation Receives Vermont Grant

Global Campuses Foundation, GCF, recently announced that it was the recipient of a $10,000 grant award from the Successful Communities Fund of the Vermont Community Foundation.

GCF is a nonprofit organization that since 2001 has been facilitating an innovative post-secondary educational option for individuals with disabilities in Vermont and in Thailand. Celebrating ability, GCF reorients the experience of disability as a positive and unique life experience with the pursuit of lifelong learning as a noble goal.

GCF’s Vermont headquarters is located in Mari-Castle in Randolph, where staff oversee its mission to participate with and support persons of differing abilities worldwide as they create, manage and sustain campus environments for advanced learning.

GCF’s stated educational philosophy and methodology is to promote ownership and stewardship as campus members participate as teaching faculty, student learners and campus staff administrators.

There are currently seven Vermont campuses and four in northern Thailand. GCF facilitates three Vermont campuses in partnership with Upper Valley Services located in Randolph, Moretown and Bradford. Global Campus Randolph is concluding its spring term of classes and workshops with a certificate award ceremony at which individual faculty and students will be recognized for successful completion of teaching and learning experiences. After a campus break, the summer term will start with a curriculum theme of “Time Travel: Exploring and Celebrating our Community Heritage.”

The Successful Communities Fund of the Vermont Community Foundation awarded these grant funds to strengthen GCF’s current campuses and to expand advanced learning opportunities for under-served populations, primarily people with disabilities, to other areas of Vermont.
