David H. Sprague

RANDOLPH—David H. Sprague, 75, a lifelong Randolph resident, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at his home.

He was born September 3, 1933 in Randolph, the son of George and Mae (Howe) Sprague.

He attended Randolph schools and graduated from Randolph High School in 1952. Following his education, he went to work for his father at Sprague’s Dairy in Randolph. He married Christine Snow April 28, 1959 in Essex Junction. He served with the U.S. Army from 1956-58. Following the death of his father in 1967, he and his brothers, Allen and Michael, bought the family business which they continue to own and operate.

His memberships included the Masons, Randolph Fish & Game Club, Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, watching auto racing and NASCAR. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Sprague of Randolph; three daughters, Sheila Connolly of Brookfield, Sally Sprague of Brookfield, and Susan Foley of Braintree; a son, Douglas Sprague of Brookfield; a brother, Michael Sprague of Randolph; a sister, Elizabeth Seymour of Rochester; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Allen Sprague.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, July 1 at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Timothy Eberhardt officiating. Burial with military honors followed at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. There were no calling hours.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Day Funeral Home of Randolph.
